Sustainability Development Report Website
Swire Properties
In 2020, Swire Properties’ SD team sought to digitalize their Sustainable Development report for the first time. Working closely with our project management team, we supported the SD team from initial planning through to final release. The project involved gathering business requirements, restructuring content from the print report, creating a clear sitemap, and ensuring a user-friendly experience. The website also featured interactive elements to enhance engagement and usability. This initiative was one of the first full SD reports available as a website in Hong Kong. I oversaw the entire process from 2020 to 2022 while at Swire Properties and continue to check the overall UI during the development and UAT stages as a freelancer each year.
My Roles...
Planning and Business Strategy
I led the initial stages of the project by gathering business requirements, identifying key goals and pain points, and proposing solutions, such as the need for cross-linking different articles to effectively manage the extensive content. My role also involved reviewing pitches from various design agencies, ensuring they aligned with the company’s vision, and selecting the best agency to bring the digital SD report to life.
Cross-Functional Team Collaboration and Communication
I worked as the main point of communication between the agency and the SD team, educating the project owner on digital design processes and aligning their expectations. This smooth collaboration ensured that all stakeholders were on the same page throughout the project.
Overseeing UI Design
Collaborating closely with the appointed agency, I played a key role in planning the content structure and execution. I reviewed wireframe prototypes and UI design, ensuring they adhered to the user-friendly design principles, and provided feedback to ensure the design met the project's strategic objectives.
UAT and Iterations
During the development and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) stages, I was heavily involved in testing to ensure the website's quality. I worked closely with the team to identify any usability or functionality issues and implemented iterative improvements to deliver a polished final product.
The Results...
The SD report website was highly recognized internally and externally as a pioneering initiative in the property development industry. It set a benchmark, evolving annually with enhanced functionality, such as improved searchability and cross-linking between reports. The website effectively communicated Swire Properties’ sustainability efforts and became a leading example of digital SD reporting.
Achievements
Since 2020, I have continued to review the UI design each year, contributing to our latest achievements. Notably, in 2022, the Sustainable Development Report 2021 won the Best Environmental, Social, and Governance Reporting Award in the Property Development and Investment category and received a Silver Award at the Occupational Safety and Health Annual Report Award, presented by the Occupational Safety and Health Council.
